(Completed in Bėčionys village)
I have completed a survey about waste recycling in Kaziuliai village. I asked three of my neighbours and presented them these questions:
How does your family dispose home waste?
What do you know about recycling?
What would you like to change in the existing refuse collecting system?
Do you mind environmental issues?
What could you personally do to make your neighborhood cleaner and greener?
All neighbours answered almost similarly.
For the first question, they said that they burned the rubbish which was burnable and other rubbish was just backfilled. One of my neighbours used to carry his rubbish to the dump. When the dump was closed, he didn’t know what to do with the waste.
For the second question, my neighbours answered, that they had seen TV shows about recycling with special dumpsters for paper, metal and glass.
When I asked the third question, people declared that they would like to have such special city dumpsters, too. It is because here, in Kaziuliai, the old people are the majority of inhabitants and it is difficult for them to dispose waste.
For the fourth question, my neighbours admitted that they were considered about environmental issues. They are annoyed about the rubbish in the forests and on the waysides.
Finally, for the last but not the least, the fifth question, all the neighbours expressed the joint similar opinion. If there were a possibility to recycle, they would do that.
All in all, although my neighbours live in a village and are old people, they know much about recycling and even are ready to recycle themselves. They are concerned about environmental issues and want the situation to change.
